CANCUN VACATION PHOTOS | BREATHLESS RESORT

As promised, here are the photos from our trip to Cancun last week.  We stayed at Breathless, which we decided on since we had stayed at Breathless in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic three years ago and loved it.  This resort did not disappoint and I'll let the photos speak for themselves before I go into a little more detail afterwards.

Phew! That was a lot of photos but hopefully you don't mind, there was so many great things to show you girls, and I mean, I love looking at other people's vacation snaps.

The trip was such a fun time since I had my two best girlfriends there, and of course Marco.  We were there for a week and had amazing weather and just such a nice time (minus some vacation anxiety, which always gets me).

The food always teeters between being my number one and number two priority (atmosphere of the resort/room/feel, etc. is the other).  Girl loves to eat, and this place had possibly the best food I've ever had while on a resort style vacation.  First, the buffet was open 24 hours a day, which I've never seen before--it usually closes between breakfast/lunch and lunch/dinner, so above all, it was super convenient without time restraints.  We actually never went post dancing, probably because we were still full from the late dinners, but was nice to have the option.

There are five restaurants on the resort, French, Italian, Japanese, Mexican and the buffet, which is international.  The food was so good everywhere we went, and most nights we would follow up our meals but hitting up the Mexican restaurant for a second dessert of churros because they. were so. good.

The resort is on the smaller side, and offers three pool areas that are completely segregated from one another.  We spent the majority of our time in the middle pool, which is massive with a gorgeous infinity edge to the beach and lots of seating.  There are fun activities in the morning with the entertainment staff, and a swim up bar.  In the afternoon things die down a bit and they play music and the highlight was each day when a new musician would come in and play alongside the house music they had--for instance, a violinist, a saxophonist and a guitarist, all on separate days.

On one end is the party pool, where they have a DJ spinning and amazing music blasting all day long.  On Friday and Saturdays they have go go dancers on a platform, there is a huge hot tub (where they do a foam party on Fridays) and it also boasts an awesome BBQ burger bar where you can get a cool custom burger each day, chicken wings, nachos, etc.  There are little high top tables to sit at on the pool deck and the music is pumping.  If you go on the Breathless website, this is the pool they are promoting in their video--but trust me, the entire resort isn't like that, just this one area.

On the opposite end is the Exhale side, which was restricted for us since you have to pay more to stay on that side and use that pool.  It's much quieter, no swim up bar, but a gorgeous infinity pool, a stand alone restaurant and a large hot tub.  There was lots of day beds and lounge chairs to take advantage of.

The rooms were gorgeous and modern, with a cool 3-glass-walled shower, gorgeous tile, double sinks, and a glass-railing balcony with a lounger and chairs to hang out on.  We got room service a couple times, it was pretty good and the selection was okay (a nice option, nonetheless).  My girlfriends ended up getting a swim out room on the ground level, which was really cool.  One evening, after a night of sweating up a storm dancing, we came back to their room and went for a late night swim.  Making memories!

A couple things to note, to be completely fair, the beach isn't very good at this resort.  It's more of a short, man-made beach, and there is a ton of seaweed in the water and along the shore.  They were manually starting to clean it up on our last day, but what a job.  Swimming in the ocean wasn't really an option and while we did spend a day on the beach (versus the pool), it's certainly not the most beautiful beach.  So with that said, if you're more of a beach person, than a pool person, I think you would be disappointed.

Overall, this was a wonderful time away, if you're looking for a spot in Cancun, and want to be a pampered, I'd suggest it.  Throughout the entire week we all kept saying how much we loved the place and how it exceeded our expectations.

If you made it this far, thanks so much for reading & I hope you girls have a great weekend!  Happy Easter!
